Life-sized granite 240D

I may have posted this about a year ago, but lost all of the pictures.

I was in the area today, had my digital camera and it was such a beautiful day, I couldn't resist stopping by and snapping a few pictures and paying my respects..

Turbodiesel,

Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and share them with us.

I've always said that a 123 feels like it was cast in one piece, I guess this provides a little verification.

I guess they simply took this fellows wagon and sprayed it with something. God rest his soul.

Have a great day,

While it's cool, it's also extremely creepy

You need gas ( um diesel) and wind sheild washing fluid. Did you go 412 miles between filling?

I would love to here the story about the 240. It is in a cemetary, someone must of realy liked that car to have it carved. Is it a head stone? We should all pitch in and send them a hood oranment.
Couple questions:
How is the interior and what kind of mileage does it get?

All I have to say is "why??"

Don't get me wrong, I love the w123 but why do you need to carve one out of a solid hunk of rock? Just park one up there and leave it runnin.

Mine looks like that sometimes after a fishing trip. After returning from fishing, I usually don't wash it for several weeks just because I like that "hard use" look. Or maybe because I'm just a lazy bastard.

Somtimes my washer fluid resevior holds the fluid for a long time, somtimes it leaks out in a few hours. Its a mystery to me. Yes, 412 miles since the last fillup, but I think she saw about 460 before I got fuel today.

He actually has a rather large granite structure with a door on it, and I think his casket is inside of it. You can kinda see it from a few of the shots, it's to the left if you are looking at the car from the front.

It's a pretty impressive hunk of stone.

I contend that this is not a huge piece of granite. It is some sort of mortar or other substance sprayed over a real car. There is even a dent below the passenger side headlight. Don't get me wrong, it is still VERY impressive.

I looked for the trap door but couldn't find what you were talking about.

Have a great day,

It may not be solid but I don't think it is a material sprayed onto a real car. If it was just spayed on to the car, especially a concrete product, it would just come right off when the sheet metal flexed. For instance when someone was climbing on the car. If I was at the site and still 9 or 10 years old I think the urge to climb to the roof would be overpowering

If your name was Peabody and you wanted one in Anthracite grey, could someone carve it out of a giant lump of coal?

It's stone...

I read somewhere on a site that it is in fact, really stone. The guy's last name was Tse, an avid Mercedes enthusiast. Rumor has it he had the car carved after his death to the tune of $250,000. Now thats a testiment to brand loyalty.

The window configuration doesn't look right to me. Is it a stretch limo, sorta ??

Oh, I think TD is saying the body is in that big blockhouse behind the car. I hope.

It's DEFINATELY NOT concrete sprayed onto a real car. If you look at it for a while, and have a real 123 to compare it to (like I did a year ago) you can spot the inperfections.

If this was carved by eye, then this ranks right up there with the masters! Think how hard it would be to carve these long compound curves by eye!
Hopefully the person used a machine which copies 3D objects.

The donor model of a stretch saloon W123 must be quite rare in any case, Huh?
