Does my car have a idle speed control unit

I have been using my right foot for the brake & to keep fuel going when I am sitting still. I've been doing this for over two years. I've had enough, and I want to get to the bottom of my problem. I thought the best (easy) way would be to replace the idle speed control unit. However, I dont know if my car has one. Any body know? Thanks for your time.

Answer

I suspect your throttle cable is mis-adjusted, damaged, or the engine side support bracket is bent.

I am unsure which of these is correct for your VIN#.

Wire cable
2013002830

Wire cable
2013002730

The idle adjusting screw is the RED arrow.

The BLUE arrow locks into the bracket I am concerned might be bent (a common issue).

I put a new throttle cable on awhile back, and I tried to adjust where the red arrow points, but it causes her to throttle up to a run away situation. Before the idle problem started she would idle kinda fast, then settle down to a normal idle. I did notice that the new throttle cable seems to be a little tighter than the old one.

You may have the wrong cable installed.

The stubby one can be made to fit, but leaves no slack = any engine motion stresses it.

The correct cable has considerable slack between the bracket and bulkhead.

Wouldn't that be something if that was it - I'll repace the throttle cable. Thank you.
