Ok, I think this is what I'm going to do regarding the sticker. I will have the original printed but on white static vinyl. This way, people with window tint can use it also. The free one will also be the same original design on a white background but with adhesive on the back. You could then put it anywhere you like. Mine's probably going to go on my laptop and guitar case. Is this ok with everyone?
Also, I really think 5 X 5 is just too big. I even think 4 X 4 is too big. I will defer to Mike, the designer, and see what he likes best. With regards to the static not working on the window tinting, I don't know what I can do about that. So far, only three of the interested parties have expressed interest in tinted window compatible stickers. I hope the static will work, but if it doesn't, I'm sure they will find a way to be resourceful. Also, they'll be getting the free ones that they could also use on the window. Silverfishk8, I was originally going to subsidize part of the cost, but instead I will pay for the free ones. Mikemover, The stickers will be ready about 6 weeks after they get sent to the printer. The static stuff "should" stick to the outside of a window just fine. I have used static cling for car signs for a couple of years now. Works great for the newer cars with plastic bodies. I will assume the stuff you are having printed is the same material used for static cling signs, how many different cling type plastics can there be?
DieselHead if you don't have a paypal account you should get one. It's free, will make payment to you simple and faster, some people may even toss in a little extra for your trouble. (hint to others) |
Sounds great DieselHead!
rebootit and JimSmith: Right On! I have used Macs since I was about 7 years old, and would never buy a PC! I'm sitting at my G4 tower typing away. I also have a Mac sticker on my Saab, but it predates the white ones. It's the rainbow Apple logo used on the original Mac Plus...Anyway, glad to see I'm in good company. also, I second rebootit's suggestion for using paypal. It's really the easiest and fastest way to go, and helpful if you ever buy on ebay... |
Mac
Not to get off topic here but the level of Mac usage here rivals what you find in an Apple store
Macs in this house (in use) from old to new... Old Power Computing unit upgraded to a G-3 (mail server) 1st generation I-Mac (kid computer) 6 B&W G3 towers (web & mail servers) 1 first generation G-4 (shopping cart web server) 1 2nd generation G-4 (my desktop) 1 "Snow" I-Mac (Kid Computer) 2- G-3 white I-Books (wife and me personal machines) All hooked to one of two T-1 lines via cat5 or airport connections. Included on the airport which has been hacked with range extenders are 3 neighbors who found a better deal using me than the local cable or phone company:D |
Bill,
Brand new I-macs with built in CDr drives direct from Apple are $799.00. This is the old style crt machines, not the new flat panel I-macs. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a first generation I-mac. |
For the record, I have after market tint. I was under the impression clings were put on the inside. Is that not how these are made? And BTW I will want several of the Vinyl type as well. Will look sharp on my guitar cases!

It seems most people like the greytone logo. I do too. However, I think the static decals should be reverse print so they can be put on the interior side of a window (I don't want mine ripped off). Does this mean that a transparent static decal would be better? I believe so. I also believe that the whiteline would read better on a transparent background than the greytone on a transparent background. I guess you could do the greytone on white background on a reverse print static decal, but I like the transparent better (I'm thinking of rebootit's apple logo decal, white on transparent right?).
Either way, if we're doing a vinyl sticky back (for all our guitar cases, laptops, etc.) it should be the greytone on white. 4"x4" works for both; a bit small, but fits better in the window. Anyway, it just means onlookers have to get close to the car, thus possibly stirring up more interest in these classic beauties! DieselHead - let's start an email exchange so I can send you a better resolution image(s) when it is finally decided. mjkinsley@hotmail.com Mike |

Apple logo is white on transparent film. Made to stick on the outside. Size is about 2.5x2.5. White works great on my windows because they are as black as it gets, I think it's 95% tint. Never been ticketed for it (knock on wood) but when I do get pulled over the first thing I do is roll down the windows for no other reason than to ease a nervous cops mind. Since I hold a class A air brake and hazmat commercial license (if it's got wheels I am legal to drive it) 99% of the time they just give me a warning:D

Did you ever get these stickers made? My two diesels would love to have one! Let me know.
