123 rear driveshaft removal
May be transporting a 123 on dolly soon, and have to disconnect the driveshaft at the punkin. I've done it the easy way and more recently the hard way, but I forgot the easy way. Anyone care to remind me of the easy way?
Is it just dropping the center support bearing? I remember doing something to create space to slide the centering pin of the DS out of the punkin.

I take it you are leaving the front section? if so, be sure to paint mark where the 2 1/2`s line up so you put them back together in the same alignment.
Loosen the 46mm large Nut where the 2 Drive Lines slide together. Remove the 2 bolts that mount the center support bearing. Remove the 3 bolts at the rear Flex Disk. then with a pry Bar between the Disk and the Tri Flange, pry it loose. Sometimes they are really stuck and I will spray it with kroil to help break the rusty bond. Now pry it off the Disk, it should compress enough to get the centering pin free. Charlie

that's the easy way. the hard way includes removing the short bit too.
also, scribing a line w/knife or using a center punch to make reference mark works, but is harder to see. good luck

A pry bar can be kind of hard on the flex disk. Lower the pumpkin on a floor jack, just two bolts up into the body. the rear half will just slide out.
Lower till the emergency cables get a bit tight. Yes put the diff back into position befor you tow. Wrap up the FM spline in the front drive shaft section. You don't want a bunch of highway grit getting in there.
