2.5 turbo head on a 300d?

Both are L5's anyone know if I can make it work? Might I get more power out of the 2.4 injection pump?

You mean an OM602 head on an OM617? Never in your wildest dreams.

Sorry .

I'm so disappointed with the 617 head.

Nawww... the 61X and 60X engine families are very different. Google "Mercedes 602 head" and "Mercedes 617 head" and you'll see the differences.

What has the 617 head done to you?

Why not install a complete 602? The 602 has an iron block about as beefy as a 617 block. The 602 bell housing flange will accept a 722.3 tranny to deal with the heaviest 123 or 126. What you can't do as easily with a 617 is hook up a 722.6 5-speed AT - http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/253419-2-5-w123.html (make friends with whipplem104). If you like to row, 5-speed MTs are more easily available in the US for the 602 than for the 617.
