Write-up or chronicle on OM602

Has anyone seen a write-up and/or pictorial on this? Did a search but got a sea of off-target results.

Well, I suppose pretty much any part of the process. Top end, bottom ... any guidance at all. I'm looking to buy a long block and rebuild it from top to bottom.

I need year and model for the correct service data.

Do you have the engine opened up, pictures of the damage would be appreciated, and helpful for estimating repair cost.

If the head is damaged, and you can't do 100% of the work?
You are looking at $5,000.00 - $7,000.00 USD.

Piston, x5

If the head is NOT damaged, and you can do 100% of the work?
You are looking at $2,800.00 - $4,000.00 USD in parts.

When I did my cylinder head, I found this video incredibly helpful:

Mercedes 190D Zylinderkopfdichtung.m4v - YouTube

And this collection of photos was also invaluable:

Remember that the 603 and 602 are essentially the same motors, so look for 603 sources as well.
