glow plug wiring harness question

Finally getting my head back on and about ready to fire it up.

Putting the glowplug wires back on and there are a couple of wires coming
out of the back end that I can't remember where they go to.

One is a brown wire and the other is a green and red wire.
I think one goes to the oil adapter at the back end of the oil filter.
Not sure of the other one???

Thanks,
Jeff

I am not sure what you are speaking of.

I think on mine the Glow Plug Wiring Loom also has the Coolant Temp Sensor on the Head Wire in it.

I don't have an Electric Oil Pressure Gauge so I would have no Wire for that.

The other question is does your 1984SD have an Idle Position Sensor On the Fuel Injection Pump. If so I don't know if those Wires are included in the Glow Plug Wire Loom or not.

I would get an online wiring diagram from startekinfo and figure out what the wires go to.

In very general broad terms they have standards for wire colors. This is not enough to let you identify the circuit function but at least you have an idea when you see a wire color what you might be looking at.

Solid Brown = ground
Brown with stripe = lead from a device, heading for a switch, that switches the lead to ground to operate the device

Solid Red = constant battery power
Red with a stripe = constant battery voltage, after the fuse or switch, on its way to a device

Black - same concept as red except using switched power after the key switch

Figured it out.
Brown wire goes to sensor on top of turbo manifold.
Green/Red wire goes to oil pressure gauge at the back/bottom
of the oil filter. Mystery solved.
