wrecked 1984 euro 300d value?

Hey guys know a guy who wants to sell me a euro 300d that is totaled. Car was a dd till it was totaled and is mostly still complete. Its a N/A 617 with 4 spd manual trans, crank windows etc think mileage is in the 200-250k range. Thinking of taking it off his hands but not sure what i should offer him.

To me it's a parts car given the fact that it was totaled by insurance. Fairly complete parts cars are worth about double scrap value. Scrap value on a car like that is $300 or $400. So split the difference and offer $700, I suppose.

Thank kind of around what I was thinking. Id like to pick it up and use manual trans in a car. Not that I have another 300d right now that I could use it in lol. But figured if I could get it for cheap it would be worth getting. Is the 4spd setup in these pretty much same setup as in a 240d? Nothing special?

I would say that it depends on the condition of the car. On the other forum, there is a stunning Euro W123 wagon that was t-boned that the owner is considering selling. I was maybe going to make an offer. He said he would try to find out what PnP pricing for it.

I would try to find out if he has the bumpers and lights as you were asking about.

In a OM617 with a manual, it comes with the highly desirable OM617 flywheel, which is heavier than the OM616 (240D) one. With the 300D, the shift linkages are also shorter and the driveshaft is shorter as well. The transmissions are very similar though. To do a 4-speed swap, you would want all of the transmission back to the diff.

Awesome. Well I sent him an email so we will see. Even if I don't use it for anything sounds like it could be used by someone else at least.

Do you have any photos of it?

Would be nice to see what they are considering totaled...

since it is a euro, it may be worth restoring, it also has the desirable M pump on it.

I don't have any pictures of it but I'd say for sure totaled. Car was very nice before wreck but was t-boned on driver side so its pretty tore up. Entire side is destroyed. Kind of a charcoal metallic color with a cream colored interior.

The M pump is different injection pump where the standard US pump is the MW pump if I've read correctly. I could not tell you why its more desirable though.

The 38# flywheel is worth at least 300.

The M pump....gives an extra 15hp....a euro can actually race a Porsche and win....the pump can also be tuned to add a ton of horse power to the engine.
