Funny surge / choppy throttle at highway speeds.
My OM602 Turbo powered '93 190 has developed a strange throttle response condition.
This has been going on for a couple of months (at least). It's driveable, but annoying. When accelerating through up to about 2500 rpm's, the acceleration seems a bit "soft", but then really starts to come on strong at 2500 rpms (like a surge of power). The issue I'm having, though, is that at 2500 rpm or above, decreasing pressure on the accelerator pedal even slightly causes a sudden and very noticeable drop in power. It's like having an on/off switch for an accelerator, as opposed to the continuously variable control it is supposed to have. I have checked and lubricated the linkage on the IP. I do not believe the problem is in the linkage. I think it's more likely an ALDA and/or rack problem inside the pump, but don't have a good idea how to begin troubleshooting so that I can identify the root cause. As always, any help would be appreciated. Steve.

I realize this is an odd-ball problem, just hoping for some suggestions regarding possible causes.
Steve.
