Pipe upgrade

In a few weeks I will have the new upgraded pipe. It will be made out of one piece of stainless steel tubing (I was told, but I have not seen the first one yet). The new model will still include the EGR plate kit. With this upgrade, the cost will be upgraded as well. It will cost $180 for the pipe and EGR kit + $20 for S/H/I. As soon as I get the first pipe, I will post a photo or two......Rich

Performance gain question for those that have purchased one of these kits.

Can anyone give a testimony about the performance gains (if any) after the pipe installation? I do know the benefit of the potential saving the turbo is real, but is there any noticeable performance gain?

Bypass pipe performance gains

After I installed the pipe I noticed quicker throttle response. When my car is traveling uphill on my typical commute, I rarely downshift anymore unlike the old trap oxidizer exhaust system. My car does accelerate quicker, but I could not accurately quantitate an increase in hp or tq.

The bypass pipe is a must have upgrade.

New pipe design ready to ship

I have available for immediate shipment, the latest design pipe. It is bent in one piece with the transition from rectangular to round TIG welded. All other connections are TIG welded as well. The flanges are mild steel and painted with high heat resistant paint. All gaskets and hardware are provided with the kit as well as an EGR block-off plate. The cost is $180 +$20 S/H/I.

hey I have a 84 300CD. I am pretty sure it is a Cali version. I have that extra part in front of the turbo tho. I think it is a KKK turbo also, since this was missing in my old 83 300CD which I believe has the Garret turbo. Do you guys think I have the trap oxidizer and if yes I would like to order this bypass kit!

P.S. I know the trap oxidizer versions have a smaller air filter assembly in a different spot towards the front of the engine. I have the normal set up where the air filter assembly is bigger and on top of turbo.

^ If you have a trap oxidizer you'll know by the giant can under the turbo instead of simple exhaust pipe going under the car. It's really hard to miss. They had a different air filter because the turbo had to be moved up in order to make room for it. You'd never fit a normal air filter on top of there.

The extra bit on the front of the turbo is the ARV, which even non-California cars had around 84-85 for the 123.

Bolkata, would not have the "trap oxidizer", based on your description. It was only on 1985 CA engines, and yours is 1984. One couldn't even fit a 1984- air cleaner to a 1985 engine because the turbo on the 85 sits higher up. Indeed, that is why they changed to the frame-mounted air cleaner.
