That is all of the photos I have from the owner. It does not have the 3rd row seat and the SLS is still in place but the owner says he has never put much weight in the back to test it (and I have little knowledge of how to test it).
So yes it has rust, but as I have seen with my dad's 240D it could just have surface rust and the underbody be completely clean. I would personally have to see that obviously, and if there is any underbody rust run away. Some of the parts on my dad's 240D might go into this if we decide to part that out. I can't tell if that back seat has holes in it or what, or what, same if there is a hole in the headliner or not, just not good pictures.
Assuming we determine this is a decent car (just looks pretty rough to me from the pics), if he gets this I know he will want a turbo engine. Will the SLS pump mate up to any OM617 turbo or just ones from 300TDs? How about an OM602? I know he will want a manual, either a 4 speed out of a 240D or a 5 speed out of a W201 or W124. Anything else to look out for with these?

You will need a wagon head. Heads are turbo/NA specific.

Either that or try to adapt a PS pump from a W124 wagon -- that's what did the SLS in those cars.

A couple things:

-it look sleek its missing rear hatch interior panel
-I can't tell what that can is in the passenger footwell is but if its Ether be VERY cautious. It sound alike he's been running veggie oil so the rings could be gunned up causing low compression
-this car uses the evil servo climate control system. Ensure that the hear changes from hot to cold and that the vents will also change from defrost to floor. If not plan on spending at least $1000 to get the climate control working. Or better yet you could swap the manual climate control form your 240D to the wagon.

Yea, I guessing it either A) gone or B) taken off
And for the climate control, that was my plan

That's a can of Arizona IceTea, may be worse than ether, depending on how it was used

Looks alright, be on the lookout for rust. A 5 speed out of a 201 or a W124 is going to require adapting. Here's a thread for you on it.

How to adapt a W201 5-speed to OM616/OM617 applications

Sounds like the current owner has been experimenting with alternative fuels.

If this is the case, you should find out exactly what he has been doing. In the case of waste motor oil, he should be filtering it really well through a very fine filter. In other words, not an old gym sock.

I am not offhand familiar with how the guys on this site who do the WMO thing do it, but perhaps someone else can give specific info.

Also did he run it on 100 pct WMO or is he adding some to the tank on fillups, or a combo of WMO/RUG or?

Much the same for the vegoil.

Also in either case, if he hasn't being doing things 100 percent smart, find out how long he has been pushing lousy fuel through his injection pump, etc.
