Converting a TD to Manual Windows

It seems the driver's and rear passenger windows now have bad motors, at least the rear because neither switch operates the window. Tram put in all new wiring and some switches, so know that is the issue. I figure that eventually the electric switches will no longer be able to be repaired, so might as well go manual.

However, what does one do for the rear windows since they are specific to the TD? Can an electric be converted to manual?

Where does one get the parts?

Thank you so very much!

I am pretty sure that the regulators are the same between the sedan and wagons so you should be able to get them from a 240D. If you get them from a junkyard get the console at the same time so you don't have the switches.

I faced the same issue with my 300D last year. The rear door power regulators had bent which caused the windows to stay in the up position. They were beyond repair. The power regulator assemblies were north of $500 each. Manual regulator assemblies from MB were in the $75 each or less range including the crank handles. The regulator crank handle sticks out through the power window switch hole. In order to give it a finished look I got some similar colored vinyl from the fabric store, glued it to a round piece of fiber board and then punched a hole in it for the crank. It looks pretty good. Manual windows are a wonderful answer. The regulators are plug and play.
