96-97 E300 NA --- Prices
What are realistic prices for these cars? I am always looking for something to pickup. Is it just me or are these cars really overpriced?
Example 1) 1997 E300D 149K miles $5800.00. Missing the sticker behind the license plate. Rear ended? Looks repainted too. Example 2) 1997 E300D 157K miles $5500.00. It was just on Craigslist about a month ago and the ad said it didn't shift out of second. Limp mode obviously. It was a "speed sensor" they claimed. Now the price was raised from $4500.00 to it's current $5500.00. Odd. None of that is mentioned since it the price was raised. Example 3): 1999 E300DT 190K miles $5900.00. Seems much more realistic for me to pay $5900.00 for a turbo model. Opinions welcome. |

I don't think those kind of prices are out of line for a nice specimen....but you can certainly do better if you wait and are patient. I got my 99 E300 with 73k miles for $5500. For cars with 150-200k on the clock, you should be able to get them in the $3500-4000 range once the sellers accept the hard realities of the current market.
