Lighting Upgrade

I have recently moved to a more rural area and there are tons of deer on the road when I drive late at night. I have been considering what to do and have decided for a period lighting upgrade. I am going to get a custom mounting bar made and am trying to decide on the light placement and whether I should go for two lights or four. Has anyone seen a configuration they like on the W123. This is what came for me in the mail today!

Well, if you do not use heavy gauge wiring and relays, as well as upgrade your alternator you are not going to get the full benefit of your upgrade. First thing I would do is upgrade the alternator to a 100Amp unit if you can. Then I would wire each pair of lights to its own relay. Make sure you fuse each power lead as well to be safe....

Lookup what people in the Nordic countries do. This type of setup is very common over there on all cars. MB even sells a w124 mounting bracket specifically for this.

That looks nice but around here if you park on the street they would be smashed the first time you park on the street!

I really like the Cibie e-code lamps as drop-in replacements for sealed beams (referencing the link above). I've found Hellas to have relatively uneven light with numerous points of intense illumination that can be annoying, especially when using high-wattage bulbs. All the Cibies I've used produced much more even light.

You mounted your soda can slightly off-center.

I may be doing this on my euro.....but I am going to install a roof rack and mount them on the roof rack using a cross bar....running the wires down the back and through the trunk...

The diet coke effectively doubled the wheel horsepower.
