magneto calibration

I just repaired the odometer gears on the odo. When I went for a test drive my speedometer is jumping around all over. Do you need to calibrate the needle and magneto when you re-install? I know Psfred has done this repair before but if anyone else has let me know. Thanks

Also, are there brake wear sensors for the parking brake pads? Both lights eluminate at start-up "O" and "BRAKE" and then go out after a while.

Check your pad thickness. The "O" lamp is pad thickness alert and the brake lamp can be low fluid level in res. as the calipers are extended out, lowering the res level.

Actually, Steve Brotherton (moderator stevebfl) is the best source for info to repair your speedo/odo problems. Steve wrote a very good repair procedure in a thread entitled Odometer Malfunction dated 3-31-01. I used Steve's info to fix my odo problem and since the fix it works great! Steve's shop repairs speedo/odo so he has a lot of experience to help you if you need more info.

The front brake pads have wear sensors and the master cylinder has a sensor monitoring fluid level. Either sensor will cause the brake light on the dash to light up. Check your front pads and fluid level first. Then look for other causes why the dash light is coming on.

Good Luck!
Tom
