Is anybody elses Febi UCA squeaking?

I've installed numerous UCAs on both W123 and W126s and have never had inner bushings squeak like the ones on these Febi's that I recently installed. I didn't tighten the bolt that goes through the frame until I put the car on the ground. Any ideas? Thanks

Febi rubber quality is pretty crap - I'm not a fan

It Would Be Interesting...

Stretch is probably right, bad rubber, & it's unfortunate b/c when I looked at PP's catalog, I expected the Febi UCA's to be substantially less in price than the Lemfoerders, but they weren't. Febi is one of the parts distributors that buys a lot of lower quality parts from Chinese manufacturers & re-boxes them under their well known Febi name, implying they are high quality.

It's probably water over the damn now, but it would be interesting to see if the country of manufacture is stamped on the part. I know you're looking for a solution better than a discussion of MB parts quality, but I think the only real solution will be replacement.

My Febi unit has a deteriorated ball joint, but the bushings seem to be fine.

The box said made in India.

I backed off on the mounting bolt and the squeak went away, but it's been wet out the past couple of days, so we'll see how it sounds when everything is dry. I don't think that I had it torqued any higher than 35 or 40 lbs.

+1

Even with TRW you have to watch out. Their stuff is not always top notch either.

If you see the same Part you want on eBay ask the Seller where the Part is made. They usually answer within 2 days.

However, you still need to use your own Judgment. I ask 2 different eBay Sellers where the URO Transmission Mount they were Selling were made. One Seller answered China the other Seller said made in the USA!
I ask that Seller why He thought they were made in the USA and He said because He bought them from the Main Office here in Simi Valley CA. I explained to the Seller that just because there is a APA/URO office in the USA does not mean the Part was made here. He did not respond back after that.

Also I would swear that about 6 Years ago when I was trying to find where URO parts were made the Corporate office was in Singapore. And the Website said that their parts were made in Countries all over the World with no other specifics.

Yet if you go to the APA site it seems like APA was involved like in 2004.

You should send the PeachParts member "URODan" a PM about the company and where it is located. I'm sure, as an employee of the company, he can tell you everything you (we) need to know.

I wonder what his response would be with regard to my thread listing all the recent URO Parts failures that various members on this forum have. Probably like tjts1, say that the failures were the result of "installer error" rather than parts quality.

Last time I checked, personal attacks are against the rules of this forum.

Where's the personal attack? No one was called a name here, and I was just factually reiterating a statement from another user in another thread.
