Got keyed

my poor old 95 e300d got keyed! I discovered it yesterday. I cannot imagine why someone would do it to such an old car.

Good God - sorry to hear that. I have a '95 E300 too. My '99 Turbo had all four doors kicked in by punks trying to pop the air bags at an overnoight commuter lot a few years back. I didn't even take pictures of it I was so digusted.... no use in trying to figure out what people with no brains are trying to prove...

just think of it like this...

your car was an AMAZING HUGE MASSIVE LUXURY CAR, and they have only their Nike shoes to move them along...

or, maybe it was an accident... a couple was walking along, and overcome by infatuation and lust, they succumbed to their base desires, and had to make out RIGHT THERE, and the keys that were on his belt loop scratched your car, and they didn't notice it with all the earth moving and such... watch your step on that side of the car for "puddles"...

Tom, I feel bad this happened to your car. There is always some one with nothing to do but out to vandalize other peoples property. They get caught there are no consequences and they get away with it. they need their little arses whipped in the public square......NAAAA they have their right, couldn`t do that now.

How deep is the scratch, could it be polished out?

Back in 2007 I had my 1982 300SD gouged with a screwdriver (down the metal) all along the drivers side of my car from the front fender to the back door in the employee lot where I worked. I had only worked there about a month and didn't even know hardly anyone yet. I could tell there was a heavy "domestic car loving" culture though. I feel your pain. I even reported it to management but they wouldn't help me out.

Just to keep it from rusting I had to layer about 2-3 layers of primer and a few coats of paint into the groove. Thankfully it never developed rust there so I did a decent job painting it I guess, still looked terrible though.

Its deep enough the bottom of the gouge is light colored, so I doubt it will buff out.

I've driven benzes for nearly 30 years and never been keyed, but I have had my hood ornaments stolen before. I find that a black benz for some reason seems to really instill the urge to do evil things in some folks.

If I cut in on someone a little closely they love to honk where I could come a lot closer with my big dodge and they will never ever honk.

I think a black benz instills jealousy, a big dodge fear...or some combination of respect and fear.

Driving an old MB - even one worth less than a grand or two is considered by some to being wasteful with our natural resources, and unfair to subject others to in society at large. It also gives off the impression that one may be rich, or better than others. Really, it's anybody's guess as to why it got keyed, or could it be as to how and where you parked? How were you parked, and where?

Big difference between an HD truck, and a puny car. The HD trucks command respect - whether the others in puny cars want to give it or not, isn't a choice when they're going to get squashed if they don't yield.
