Need to remove and test or replace RPM/Engine Speed Sensor but don't know how

I ordered a new tach amp replacement from MB Electronic Upgrades (mbelectronicupgrades. com), thinking my tach amp was bad. The upgraded tach amp he designed is pretty cool -- it has a tiny LED that flashes every revolution to indicate it's getting a signal from the sensor. It also has a "self test" that makes the tach go slowly all the way up to 6 or so, then back to zero, when you first turn the key on.

So, I was able to determine that my tach works fine, but the sensor doesn't. I determined this by moving the wire that goes from the tach amp to the flywheel where the sensor is mounted. When I lifted the wire, the red LED started flashing, but when I let go, the connection broke and the LED stopped blinking. So, I'm pretty sure there is a cracked wire or broken connection. The wire is very brittle down there.

The problem is that I can't figure out how to get access to it to remove it. There is a small bolt but no place for a tool. I got under the car (without a lift) and tried to peer in...no luck for someone like me without a huge selection of tools, if that's even possible.

Does anyone know the best procedure for removing this sensor? I hope it doesn't involve disassembling things, removing belts, etc. It might not be worth all that...Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Remove the nut, think it is a 8mm. If you have a 1/4" ratchet and extension it should fit from the top. been a while since I removed one.

Once the nut is removed the sensor should pull straight up. The Stud the Nut screws onto stays with the Bracket, and it is mounted to the engine.

It might be a slight struggle to get it to move with the dirt, oil and ??? holding it tight.

I will have another look. I couldn't seem to find any way to get a tool into the tight space where the bolt is.
