Reman brake caliper, 126.120

Guys, should I proceed with this?

Check out the rust on the brake line inlet threads and contact surface.

Sadly, I didn't even look until I've removed the old caliper.

The reason I didn't use Pelican is because this is a Bendix unit. They don't sell reman Bendix here.

A few years ago, I replaced the other front caliper with a Cardone unit, it's fine, this is a NuGeon unit from Auto Haus AZ, what an expensive POS.

The hardware pack was missing too.

After further thought, I'm going to return this and use my next option.

It'll be another NuGeon unit, perhaps I'll have better luck.

Otherwise, can anyone suggest what to do if the next one is in the same rust shape?

Return it! Rust in the hydraulic passages is not a good thing.

But if your inclined to keep it, you are going to have to disasemble (including split) the caliper and examine how rust much is in there. Then give it a good citric acid bath, scrub it and soak it again. Then acetone spay it clean. reassemble with new o-rings at the split.

I buy my remans from the local McParts stores because of easy return. Cardone is Cardone no matter where it comes from. Fluid gets changed each Summer via power bleeder just because.

Perhaps bite the bullet & buy a set with hoses. Buy good pads on line if needed. The chains have gone to the cheapest house brands they can find.

Yeah, it is being returned.

I have a Cardone reman on the other side, but can't find those anymore.

The dealer can't help, but the parts guy, we know each other, made a call to Bap Geon, I'm sure it's a reman, but will inspect in person before purchase.

Here O'reilly's has carries Cardone.

One brand is much more expensive ATE/Bendix. They are interchangeable as long as you have the same brand on an axle. They use the same brake pad, hose and wear sensor.

O'reilly has the sensor also. I just buy them because. I haven't noticed any harm from not having wear sensor and can't imagine not looking at my brakes and needing to be reminded to replace pads.

Regarding brakes, the only part I don't buy locally is the pads, rotor and master cylinder. Better parts can be had online and they are unlikely to be sent back. Getting the correct calipers and hoses shipped has been problematic.

The LF has been replaced with a Cardone unit a number of years ago.

This is the last caliper to be replaced, it is taking too many weeks to accomplish this task.

I have another reman on the way.
