Vacuum Line Identification from Engine Bay W116
Hello,
The parts for the car have arrived, and going through replacing the lines for this and that, I ran across two lines that run into the firewall and go no where. Here are some pictures http://s84.photobucket.com/user/Assault591/library/Car%20Restoiration/Vacuum%20Lines/Identification%20lines%20Engine In the second photo it is the line on top with the nut attached rather than the rubber connector. (by the way what is this thing and whats it do) In the third photo that is the side of the Transmission Vacuum Shifting Valve Thank you very much for the assistance.

Perhaps this helps
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/267939-w116-617-vacuum-diagram.html I can't get to see your pictures - and even if I could see them it probably wouldn't look at all familiar...

i can't tell whats going on in your pictures, sorry. if one of the mystery lines comes off the of the VCV and goes into the firewall it is supposed to be like that. that is a fresh air vent line that is supposed to openly terminate inside the cabin.

Updated the link, Thank you for the answer to the VCV line, that is weird that it just hangs there, seems like an American car company thing to do, very un-Mercedes like
