My ACC is annoying, problematic, and hard to use.

So I've got a beef with my ACC.

It kind works if I whisper sweet nothings to the blower motor. When turning it on, the blower will blow for a moment and quit, or not blow at all. It kind works if I whisper sweet nothings to the blower motor. Ok, a blower motor at the junk yard isn't a big deal.

The more alarming thing is the gurgling noises that come from the engine bay when the ACC is on. Also the drop in idle. The whole thing sounds amiss. I also haven't the faintest clue what's going on.

Also, can I hack this thing to have a blower control switch? Something with a 1-2-3-4? I hate hate not being able to just choose my blower speed.

On the intermittent blower. Have you checked fuse 8? I've found that a new copper strip/plastic body fuse would melt the plastic but not blow the strip. The pastic would deform enough to loose contact.

I replaced it with a old ceramic/copper blue fuse and it works better no melting. Solved my intermittent blower problem.

On the other things you mentioned.. Is it blowing cold air? What type of refrigerant are you using?

By old/new, do you mean used/new? Or are there 2 types of fuse to choose from?

Whatever refrigerant MB put in at the factory. I'm not concerned about the AC. Just don't want to go through another winter without heat/defrost, like with my last 300d.

You might have some cold solder joints on any of the three control units. That might be causing you some head aches.

It would certainly not hurt to go through the three of them and reflow, recap them.

check connections on PBU

I had some annoying problems with my CCU that turned out to be loose connections on the two plugs that attach to the sides of the PBU.

My problems were (in order of most often occuring):

1. Random clicking from relay behind CCU panel.

2. Occasional heat from vents when I was asking for cooled air (I noticed this occured mostly after turning or hitting bumps and usually accompanied the spastic clicking of the relay).

3. Fan would not start when any of the 3 middle modes were selected on the PBU.

My PBU was a 2006 Programma model, I opened it up and found nothing out of the ordinary. I swapped in an original PBU my buddy gave me and thought it was cured until the next day on the way home from work and the relay went nuts and clicked real fast and started blowing heat. I then opened that unit up and found nothing strange either (aside from some repaired traces. I checked the Monovalve voltage, checked good. Finally I found out you can open the plugs that connect to the PBU. I used vice grips to press each contact to make a tighter fit (there's about 10-12 on each side). Problems solved.
