Drobot Diesel Invitation (Northern California BBQ/Shop day)

Hello everyone.
I haven't been on in a while. My car has been sick and for the first time since I've owned it I took it to a shop for repairs

My friend and our fellow forum member TurboBenz (Derek) got a job working with his friend Mike Drobot at his shop. They specialize in diesel repairs. Truck, cars, anything with a diesel engine. Mike is a Mercedes gear head. Derek and I met Mike at a local Mercedes get together.

I've spent a lot of time at their shop of the last few weeks helping them here and there with my car. And last week I got my car back. I had them change the head gasket, timing chain, and change the clutch. It was a pretty extensive overhaul. This is why I was a passenger at the last Northern California drive.

Mike had wanted to come to the last drive, but couldn't make it. We've been talking while working on my car about having a BBQ/shop day. Mike would love to open the shop up for fellow Mercedes gear heads. No sales pitch, just a fellow Mercedes owner, he just happens to have a lift and wants to share.

So who would be interested in a BBQ/shop day?

His shop is located in a complex with a large parking lot. The rest of the shops in the complex are closed on Saturdays, so we were thinking about a Saturday BBQ.

When is a good Saturday for everyone interested?

The shop is located on North Watt Ave in Sacramento.

Here are some pictures of us doing the timing chain on my car.

Yeah it was kind of like the dinner bell being rung. Word got out that we were going to do the timing chain and everyone we talked to was like "I've always wanted to see how thats done." So we all flocked to the shop. It was actually quite fun.

Count me in! As long as I know ahead of time I can most likely make it. The months of September or December wont be good for me though since those are my Saturday rotation months.

Sounds like August of October would work. August would be good because it would be sooner, and I know Mike really wants to meet more MB fans. But October would be good as well, because it would be cooler. Plus Derek and I both have Birthdays in October. And we're both the type who would love to celebrate with our cars

The date of this is all up in the air, so what ever works for the majority.

YES! Rich, It would be awesome to have you come up here! I'm still working on my car, and not to ready to do my AC kit yet, but my friend has been asking me about it. He has a 123, and bought the bracket my mom bought, because the Mam Car 2.0 never had AC so she decided "why install it?" Hes been asking me a lot of questions and reading all the info on the forum. I'm sure he'd love to meet you and pick your brain. Also, I'm pretty sure he wants to buy a compressor, now that hes bought the bracket.

I talked to Derek (TurboBenz) and we're thinking we should get together Saturday, October 11th.
What do y'all say? Does that work for everyone interested?

Works for me too. Later in October I'll be gone but the first half of the month is safe.
