New 87 300d Project with no start

Hello everyone! I just picked up another 87 300d. It has been sitting for 3-4 years without started. i did a little research on somethings to do to get her started - mostly fuel related. But the car won't even crank! Glow plug light turns on and then goes off and then I turn the key and nothing.

I am assuming its the starter but wanted to know if anyone had any other thoughts of what it could be before I buy a starter. None of the fuses were blown and all wiring looked fine. Its a little more rough than I thought when I bought it & may just use it as a parts car to my other 87. I put the battery from my other 87 in it when trying to start it.

Any thoughts? Will a 300e starter work on this car?

Was this the 300D on Craigslist in Tabernacle? A teal/beige 87? If so I was looking at that one too..

See what happens when it's shifted in neutral if it cranks. If cranks and runs in neutral, it's most likely the NSS on the transmission.

It was in PA a little while back. Just getting to her! I forgot to try that. It wouldn't have anything to do with the ignition would it? (key Cylinder) 1 previous 87 I had, the owner said something about it not starting due to the key cylinder. I'm thinking the key was stuck but can't remember what he said.

First things first, let's make sure the engine is not seized.
27 mm on a long breaker bar on the crank pulley, Turn Clockwise Only as you are facing the front of the car.

If you can get it to spin by hand then it's an electrical problem.

Get a remote starter switch, go right across the pilot wire and battery terminal on the starter solenoid.

Once you confirm the starter can turn electrically, then go after the starter control chain.

Not much in the path on a 124, it is battery - X4 terminal under the dash - red wire to key switch terminal 30 - violet wire on terminal 50 on the key - NSS - starter solenoid.

If its hard to turn over, take off the serpentine belt and try again.
