Coupe Rear Windows - Cry of Despair

Is it just me, or are the rear windows on W123 Coupes the worst design ever? I have overhauled the mechanisms and even built some new (better) parts with little success.

When I had them working, they quit working after 10-15 cycles.

Did they ever work properly? Are they supposed to go all the way down?

Any good advice?

Fritz is a beautiful '83 300CD and loves to drop his windows in the Texas springtime...
