I think you can relax. Both cars are inside a garage, and one is being parted out. As he explained, while the blue car was outside, he had to put a plate on it for the HOA. the red car was garaged. apart from this photo op, these cars aren't parked in public with matching plates.

Yeah I'm not losing any sleep over using my tag on my car in my driveway. :D

Does this count as progress?

Yes! :P Best to get something done, than nothing, and the smallest progress can feel monumental. ;) Congratulations!

I do have one of those. I might just cut the radiator support since the car is getting scrapped anyway to make it a bit easier. If someone wants ant of the radiator support parts let me know before I start cutting.

Clean it?

JB3 09-19-2014 08:26 PM

Drain it of fluids, harvest the bits that you need, then mount it to an engine stand and wrap the motor in shipping plastic. Then make decisions at your leisure

Stretch 09-20-2014 09:19 AM

I think it is probably best to leave the engine oil in place if you want to use the engine again. (Though this is probably going to start an oil thread - I feel it needs to be said!)

Mölyapina 09-20-2014 10:01 AM

I'm guessing that the oil and coolant are already out, since the rad and oil cooler are not attached to the engine anymore...

gatorblue92 09-20-2014 12:59 PM

There is still some coolant in the motor. I didn't open the block drains I only drained the radiator and whatever spilled when the engine was removed. I also didn't drain the oil because I'm hoping someone will buy the motor but if not I'll keep it as a backup for the 77 240D.

When mounting a engine to a stand do you usually remove the rear engine plate that the transmission mounts to?
