OM615 240D spec ??

So i have a OM615 200D block from an W123.I know it has 87mm bore and i am wondering if it could be bored out to 90.9mm bore, and using pistons, rods and crank from an OM616 it would become a 240D ?
Basically what i want is actually an OM616 block built to turbo spec using OM617A parts. And i happen to have a spare OM615 in my garage.
Would this be possible ?

Turbo Pistons are different and have a empty chamber in the Piston Head that catch Oil from the Spray Nozzles. Only the Turbo Engine has the Spray Nozzles. To go along with the different Oil Supply System the Turbo Engne has a huge Chain drive Oil Pump compared to then non-turbo models Shaft Driven Oil Pumps.

I don't know for sure but My expectation would be that the that the Turbo Connecting Rods and Pistons weigh differenly than the other Engines do and that would effect the Balance.

It seems much easier to just get a used late model 240D Engine.

Turbo Engines use different round nosed Prechambers to match the Pistons.

Are the Piston Rod length different between the types of Engines???

The components in the 240Ds were changed a few times and the later models have more Horse Power then the earlier ones. I have no Idea what parts can be swapped around.

My guess is it may well be borable to the bigger size. All the things diesel 911 says are true afik and the crank is different in the turbo motors with a longer nose on the front and a bigger hb. I believe the rods are the same length but are beefier.

People have turboed non turbo motors without adding the oil spray coolers and the hollow pistons but if doing that particular attention must be paid to temperature of the exhaust I believe to avoid damage.

It's possible, but it's not worth it. Converting 200 D to a 220 D is a maximum what you can easily get.

The OM616 has bigger valves (same as OM617's valves) and thus better aeration of the cylinders. It's need a new cylinder head from OM616 for your 2,4 OM615, especially considering that you built the turbo engine.
+ you can set OM615's IP for 2.4, but I think you need an IP from OM616 also.

Total: new cylinder head + new IP = half of the new OM616 which initially is 2,4.
