Remanufactured Injection Pumps

The dealership tells me that they offer a remanufactured injection pump COMPLETE with the elusive vacuum control valve MB# 123 070 00 46 for $1900. Does anyone know of an injection pump remanufacturer who offers the IP complete with the elusive vacuum control valve for less coin? Or, any leads on the vacuum control valve itself?

Are you looking for basically the vacuum control valve itself?

Is yours damaged? Most of the reports I've seen here were due to leaking flex lines or the small rubber cap on the modulator.

What are the symptoms and what have you tried?

That does not mean that the Valve is new.

It would be helpful to know what your intent is.

Are you looking for a vacuum control valve? If so, then please tell us why. They are not a common failure item, but the spring inside can lose its tension over time. If that is the issue, you can re-adjust it to bring the tension back in. The (easy) DIY is on BW:

$1900 is them farming out the work and charging you 2x. For $1200 you can get a super pump with 8mm elements and turn 300hp on that crank. Find a local bosch injection shop.

I understand the spring is usually the problem with the vacuum control valve. That said, it appears that Mercedes Benz is beginning to slow down parts delivery and in some cases, eliminate parts availability for the model W123. News flash: for those of us who operate these cars, this is not good news.......

To me, there are TWO distinctly different worlds according to Mercedes-Benz. One, cars built prior to 1992 and two, cars built post-1992. It seems that 1992 was a turning point, more and more computer control systems were introduced; Bruno Sacco retired in 1999 and the "new" Mercedes Benz models were born.

One senior Mercedes Benz mechanic I spoke with said he thought the new designs reminded him of a Volkswagen, certainly not a Mercedes Benz. I'm not sure if they look like Volkswagens, but they certainly lost a lot of their reputation as being "bullet proof" with the onslaught of computer systems, plastic bumpers, more and more plastic interior pieces, etc. Plus, some models, including the new S class look plain weird.

Mercedes will always have parts for our cars. It is their mantra. You may have to pay $$$ out of pocket. The VCV was NLA just 2 or 3 years ago and they had another run made and now it seems thats is gone as well. Supply and demand.

Great reason to move it to a stick.

Great! So.....if one was looking to purchase a VCV from the local dealer, does one need to phone the dealer's parts department once a week until they finally say they have it in stock? It seems that Mercedes has absolutely no pre-order or group buy options for car parts.

Mercedes policy with respect to parts for its 30-year-old vehicles is inferior to which other manufacturers, specifically?
