'95 e300d oil change

Hi I am attempting my first oil change on this car and have to ask how does one get the filter cap past the fire wall? Does that middle bolt also need to be taken off? I' ve done my '99 and my '94 wagon dozens of times but this is my first time on my new to me car.

Yes. BEFORE you take out the outer two nuts, the LOOOOONG AND DELICATE center bolt must be removed.

Also, you will need to change the two o-rings at the end of the center "bolt" it needs the 6mm x 10mm and a 7mm x 11mm o-ring. You can use two 6mm rings.

I would say that it's a good idea to change those O rings, but don't sweat it if you want to change the oil now and order the rings for next time. I change mine every couple years.

Success! Thanks guys. Similar set up to om606 turbo in the '99 but not sure that oil flows up the tube like the '95. Also that tube is attached to the cap on the '99 but plenty of room to get it out.

I changed over to delvac 1300 from the previous owner who used rotella synthetic and i swear the car sounds like a race car with the delvac 1300

Haha....I remember fighting with that thing with my 95 and finally managing to get it out....only realizing later that I could remove the center bolt!

So it can be done....just not advisable.

I briefly thought about carving out the foam on the fire wall after i saw the o ring fall out of the cap......I thought 'well I'm almost past the point of no return'
