kyb gas-adjust shock absorbers

tire rack has these shocks listed for my 83 240d. anyone have any comments on same? my ride is overdue for new shocks and at $29 the price is more attractive than the the other more traditional brands. thank you.

Shocks

Janko,
My 240 needed new shocks when I bought the car. I could not afford Moge or Bilsteins. I am embarrassed to say that I got Gabriel pro-riders at Pep Boys for $22.00 a piece. they serve the purpose and are better than what I had. I'm sure they are not as good as some but the $240.00 I saved went to other needed things.

Installation is very easy. The inner lower front bolt is accessed by removing the upper muonting nuts, compress the shock and swing it outward. Install is the same. Donot snip safety wire until shock is in place on the lower mount, snip wire and guide shock into upper mount hole as it rises!

i just called the local pep boys. the gabriels are priced at $19.95 and believe it or not are in stock. as an aside, years ago i put some type of monroe gas shocks on my ford ranger. 10 years and 80k miles later they are every bit as good as they were on day one. a nicly controlled firm ride response. believe too these were in the $20 range on sale. thank you both.

I remember Capt. Kirk from this board suggested that he had some problems with either Gabriels or Monroes. Something to do with the diameter of the of the shock piston rod being smaller in diameter than the OEM shocks - he endedup breaking the end off of one of his Gabriels as a result
