Air Leak

Put the hoses back in place, primed for five minutes, and despite all the clamps being over tightened, still was getting air in. So decided best to see if she would start. Took a stomp of fuel feed and can hear the injection pump vent releasing air.

Looking at the ends of the lines, especially supply, there is crazing on the inside of the ends. That is the issue, right?

Thank y'all in advance for the help!

Was working on getting one, but don't think that is necessary. Please see below.

The line going from the filter to the injection pump crumbled last night. Can air in the fuel affect performance to where it feels and acts like a clogged fuel line?

I did do searching, but no answer...

Thank y'all in advance for the help!

Yes.

That was where I was going to tell you to look. The short line from the plastic filter to the lift pump assembly. That piece of line is hidden and tends to be forgotten.

Air getting sucked in through that can cause a no-start, and when the car is running can cause it to die under load.

Seen both happen with my own eyes in the last six months, on two different cars, in my driveway....

Thank you so very much for the help!

Well, she did die and waiting for a tow. Plan is to have a friend come over tomorrow and see what is what. Though will give fuel lines a whirl.

In the midnight hour

I was having medical issues, so at 12:30 decided to see if I could get the Mercedes running again so I could drive myself to the E.R..

Since it was highly likely that there was air in the lines, I tightened all the hose clamps "over tight" like Tram had them. Primed for about five minutes but wasn't getting good flow and the primer just doesn't feel right.

Don was struggling to get his started and someone said crack a line and use the engine to get the air out. I wasn't thinking and didn't glow what I should have. Cranked a good bit, started to kick, then die. Repeated this a few times until the cycle instead was running then dying. Finally I got a couple cylinders to run, kept my foot in, got another, reduced feed, got another, reduced feed, waited to be sure she wasn't going to die, let go. It wasn't running on all five. Went and tightened the line and as I was doing it the fifth was noticeably coming on line. Cool! The ol' girl didn't let me down when I needed her the most! I just can't believe I actually diagnosed correctly and got her running!

So thankful for the Peach!
