Milestone 500K

On a trip to and from Nashville last week My 83 300SD turned over 500,000 miles! Original motor and transmission. Neither ever rebuilt! Shows how good maintenance and taking care of the little things makes them last!

Wow, that's really impressive! Not many times that ya see that . Mine has only 211k. Let's see how high I can get it.

How many miles did the car have on it when you got it?

Congrats! That is impressive.

Also impressive that you've avoided being smashed into by some moron or another, even relatively minor accidents total older vehicles and that seems to be the fate of too many.

Mileage badge time!

That's a great milestone.

Maybe post a list of what you consider good maintenance and the "little things" so we can learn from your experience.

Be sure to fill out the Mercedes mileage badge forms! You should qualify for at least two, maybe 3. They are free, and very high quality!

All the above too. You have an excellent car in the '83 300SD. I should never have sold mine.

I had only 305K on it - it was all good under the hood and trans.

To me, the '83 300SD is probably the best car I'll ever own. It was garaged in Dallas, TX when not on the road working / staying at motels. It's appearance and paint (original) was magnificent as well for a 16-year old car when I sold it.

Pic below from Dec. 1991 when I bought it. Silver Blue on Blue leather.

Yup you are good for all 3 awards:
250 000 km = 155 kmi
500 000 km = 312 kmi
750 000 km = 468 kmi

Then there is
1 000 00 km = 625 kmi

If you make it all the way to one million miles then you get a new one and yours goes in the museum. Seriously.

Go Tigers!

Kudos to you and your car!

Mine just turned 309K (miles) on Saturday, closing in on 312K and that second badge.
