1987 300D Injector Line Cracked

Will I have to use lines from a 1987 300D or will another year/model work?

I think this engine was used in other models but I'm not sure which ones.

I think injector lines from all OM601,2,3 engine would fit, i.e. 190D, 300D would fit. The lines are all the same length to each cylinder but you need to bend them if it is not from the same cyl. I suspect lines from OM606 may also fit, not 100% sure.

Sort of... 84 up to 89 om601,2,3 lines will fit correctly, but of course, 601 only has 4 cylinders, so only 1-4 would directly fit. The 602 only first 5 perfectly fit, SDL up to 89 would fit perfectly, 90,91 would have the rod bender with the angled injectors, so bending would be needed... Same with the w140

Fuel lines from a OM 606 won't fit

You could bend your own new lines and reuse the fittings from the old ones.

If your Fuel Injection Hard Line Clamps are no good or missing they should be replaced or it will happen again.

New hard line. You can get the right diameter pipe at most auto parts places. Its just like making brake lines. You need a flare tool, cutter, bender and of course the old pipe to function as a templet.

Can you get all that somewhere like Harbor Freight except for the lines?

Mercedes fuel lines are made of thick steel. It's very hard to get the right flare on the end using standard tools. If you go to Mercedes, they will have the right length line, with the right ends, but not bent to shape. Bending these lines is tough enough, I wouldn't attempt the flares.

After looking at them and talking to somebody about it I came to the same conclusion.

Luckily, I just moved to a city with a Mercedes dealership...

Had a cracked line, (line bracket were loose!!!!!!!),

ordered the right number line,

Got it installed it, CRACKED after two days,

They make the tube wall thiner, the brazing of the end fitting broke,

Got hard lines from pick-n-pull,

one year later,no problem,

calling Mercedes and complaining, did not help,

their point was, I did my self, not by the dealer!!!!!!?

good luck,

Somehow I doubt this...

I have to agree with getting the correct Line.

When I worked in a Fuel Injection Shop My Boss Bought a Hand Swedging Maching that you turned and Swedged the proper end on Fuel Injection Lines.
We made a bunch of Lines for VW Rabbits and sold them.

We had to replace quite a few of them as in uses some of them cracked right behind the Swedged end.
Apparently swedging work hardens the tubing.

Later when I had a Fuel Injection Hard Line made at a Fuel Injection Shop the Guy told Me they also stopped swedging the ends on the lines for the same reason and Silver Braized/Soldered the tips onto the line.

If a brazed area on a new Fuel Injection Hard Line from Mercedes cracks with in a Year it is still under warranty.
One of the reasons they can crack is if the Matal and Brazing Metal gets over heated during the brazing.
