Combustion chamber cleaning

Hey all,

81 300SD
I've decided to try to get rid of my blow by problem by starting with the cheap way first. I've heard of people having succeess using Mopar combustion chamber cleaner. Where is the best way to spray it so that it gets to the rings? Is it safe to put it through the turbo?

Pull the injectors and pour in some marvel mystery oil and let it soak for a few days.

Have you gone through the crankcase ventilation system like they said on the other thread?

I do not know if it is safe to inject the Mopar combustion chamber cleaner pre-turbo, but my guess is no.

I have had success with water injection loosening stuck rings.

The Marvel Mystery Oil takes a Week of more to work as it is very gentle.

The Marvel Mystery Oil un-stuck up My sticking Piston Rings on My Volvo Diesel but did not do anything for the Blow-by on My 84 300D. Meaning that the MM Oil is only going to work it the Rings are sticky.

Thanks for the replies. I will try those suggestions. I'm confused as to how putting it through the crankcase ventilation system would help... Doesn't that just go straight to the oil separator which then goes into the oil pan?

Yes, I believe you are.
I think that he meant that you should inspect your CCV system to make sure that it is functioning correctly. Not that you should introduce MMO in to it.

First you are assuming your blowby is caused by stuck rings.... as compared to WORN out rings...
You could get closer to determining your situation by pulling the precombustion chambers... which are the best place to pour the MM oil ..
but pulling them would give you the chance to put a scope into your cylinder and turn the engine... you would be looking for hatch marks still present in the sleeve and for vertical scratches in the bore... possibly indicating one or more broken rings..
You need to consult a FSM.... as they have detailed info as to how to ' read' the oil lines in the bore.... they are very specific and helpful.
If your hatch marks ( crosshatch lines left from boring to size ) are missing... your sleeve is worn out and needs replacing. This is different from old American engines where the crosshatching was designed to wear the rings fast for breaking in the engine...and providing oil spaces to keep the new rough rings and piston from scoring the bore.

My .02 cents worth; I had blowby on my car & used Kreen. It cured it, NO blowby and the engine runs lot better. I was told to put a quart 500 miles before oil change. It is amazing stuff!!

What problem in the Engine do you think it fixed?

Also I don't know if this is the same product or not but there is a similar Product that can't be sold in CA.

I had blowby & injector(s) knock. I no long have blowby or knock. You won't believe how much crud came out of the crankcase. I plan on repeating it on my next oil change.

The site KANO LAB says can't ship to CA, however I have seen posts that say; order it on line and they will ship.
