Any tricks to free ALDA set screw from locking nut?

I've done this before with ALDAs off IP. On this 84 300D, it's so easy to get to I'm leaving it in place. I've got the "tin can" completely removed. Nut turns but set screw turns with it. Other than penetrating oil and time, any ideas?

EDIT: Only 20 minutes of penetrating oil did the trick.

All penetrating oils are far from the same. Some that label themselves penetrating oils are a joke in comparison to others.

Home made acetone and transmission fluid at a ratio of 50/50 make about the most aggressive you can have. Or I have run across so far.

Ehhh keep the ALDA off. They're pointless anyway. No MB diesel has had catastrophic failure without an ALDA or any long term damage for that matter. Roll a little extra coal at WOT and embrace the smokey old 617.

Since they are fused together so to speak why not just shim under the big nut? Same effect and no worries!

I'm sure I'll take it off just to see how the car performs...but I'd like to avoid monkeying around with other adjustments to get the shifting back to perfect (which I've heard is often the case). However I will say that, in the only other car where I've removed the ALDA myself, an 87 300D, no adjustments were necessary.
