87 190 2.5 turbo oil filter housing

Hi I am looking for a oil filter housing for the 2.5 turbo diesel, I want to see if it will fit my non turbo 2.5 merc diesel. As the turbo model has the oil cooler tapings in it, I should be able then to fit an oil cooler to the engine that is in my boat. the engine was marinized a few years ago by myself but the temp is high after a 8hr trip up the river. If anyone can help me to see if the part will fit? / is it feasible? and can anyone point me in the right direction for a filter housing. I am in the uk. best regards Andy

how are you cooling the coolant in your boat? every boat I've seen uses the river/ocean water for coolant... I cannot imagine a scenario where this would be insufficient...

They both seem to take the same gasket, so I would guess that you can interchange.

Ebay frequenly has various Mercedes Oil Filter housings for sale. However, due to the size and weight shipping can be the deal breaker.

Hi the cooling is through a heat exchanger/ manifold and that seems to work fine it is the oil temp I want to control, with the engine sump being in the hull it has no cooling air round it, hence if I can cool the oil slightly through another small bowman heat exchanger cooled by the seawater circuit I think it would work fine. so I just need a turbo oil filter and I should be able to sort the job out . best regards andy

This thread got me thinking....my oil temp is dead steady at 185F under all conditions. This seems right to me, anyone have readings to compare?
