1983 240d wiper only work on high
I have a 1983 240d and the wipers only work on high. They won't go back to the bottom of the windshield unless I'm lucky enough to turn them off when they are at the bottom.
Do you think it's the motor, switch or relay? Thanks. Pete |

The wiper motor is a 2 speed, 2 winding motor.
Low speed winding handles intermittent, low speed, and parking High speed winding is just the high speed I would suspect the motor - either a bad winding or bad connection in the low speed circuit. Could be the parking switch as well. I would check at the connector in the engine bay for voltage - socket side. Pin 3 is ground Pin 1 is constant hot (when key is on) for parking switch Pin 4 should be hot when in pos II (low speed) Pin 6 should be hot when in pos III (high speed)
