Removing Injection Pump-220D
 

Is there any tricks to removing an injection pump on a 220D? Aside from removing the cables and fuel lines is they anything that needs to be done when unbolting the pump from the engine? Crankshaft position or something?

You don't need to worry about the crankshaft position assuming you time it properly when you reinstall.

The only tip I can give is to use a 13mm socket on a long 1/4" wobble extension in order to reach the lower mounting nut on the flange. Some people recommend bending wrenches but you can snake an extension between the pump and the engine and it works great.

I think it makes life easier if you remove the Pump after you line the Crakshaft up on the Timing Mark before top dead center on the Compression Stroke.

On mine that is 24 Degrees before top dead center on the compression Stroke.

Before removing the Fuel Injection Pump scribe a line acrossed the Fuel Injection Pump Flange and the Engine Block so it can be lined back up. This assumes that the splined end on the Shaft of the Fuel Injection Pump was lined up correctly to begin with.

Or you could simply start over stick the Pump in as per the Manual and drip time it.
