Exclamation 1984 300D w123 Exhuast

Ive had my car for 3 years now and its been a couple months now that i hear a propeller noise everytime i drive when accelerating, im not sure if its the exhaust or something else. it also makes noise when im letting go of the gas and slowing down without braking, some one please help i appreciate it.

If a clanking propellor sound, I would first suspect the metal fan blades on the front of the alternator hitting the alternator bracket. There isn't must clearance. One of my cars did that.

Spin the radiator fan and see if the thermal clutch is tight and not wobbly.

Pull the plastic tube off the turbo inlet and spin the turbine blades.

Check the torque converter mounting bolts. On some cars, they back off so that the heads start hitting the block.

Check the rotating pickup rod on the crankshaft damper at the front. Mine broke off when it hit a longer screw I installed in the upper oil pan for a Rollguy AC bracket.
