Injector line leaks after removed for o-ring replacement

After replacing my O-rings, I put the hard lines back in place and tightened down. One of them leaks rather noticeably now, and can be embarrassing at parties and receptions. So I thought it best to remedy.

Does this happen to you? Was it something caught in the fitting, or do the fittings simply "wear out"?

Also, I see an item listing for these here at $59, but I can't tell whether it's for the set of six, or a single brass-plated, monogrammed version (sure to be a smash hit at those events). If the latter, how to specify which cylinder?

There may be a piece of dirt on the sealing surface. You could try wrapping the tapered part of the pipe with Teflon tape before tightening it. Unless there is a crack, that should fix it. What engine is it on? I am sure someone here has a good used one that they would sell......Rich

X2 on something trapped between the sealing surfaces.

You did not say if they were leaking at the Injectors or on the Fuel Injection Pump end of the Line?

The Line Nuts sometimes crack as do the lines. It is extremely rare for the top of the Delivery Valve Holder to split/crack but it it not unknown.

Are the Threads OK.

You did not say what year and Model you have. The Hard Line Ends that Mercedes used on My year and Model are an extremly good type. Over tightening them is more likely to damage the Injector or the Delivery Valve holder because they are softer Metal.

However, you need to inspect both the Line end and the seating area for damage. Scretches or dents in the Line can keep it from sealing.

When I had that issue at work and had to get something fixed so that the Vehicle could be used I got a tiny Copper Washer and put that between in between. Since the washer is flat and the sealing area is either pointed or concave if you can fined something to dish the Washer. Other was it may take sveral Washers and severaly trys.

I think pipe tape is a bad Idea as a piece of of it may migrate to the Injector.

Where I worked we had a big box where we put the extra Copper washers as Fuel Injection Pump Gasket Kits generally coverec more than one application and there was extras. So I had no issues finding the right sized washer.

Some companies use swedged lines where the sealing tip of the Hard line is made from the Line Metal itself. On those overtightening indeed creates a Ring around the tip that eventually causes at least one of the lines to leak.
