door locks

need a few advices. well my 78 300sd use to have a bad vacuum leak causing no power locks (well vacuum lock) i traced it back to the one vacuum line in the rear passanger side seat. it is near the edge of the door, near the seat belt thing.. so i put a piece of rubber hose around it and super glued it shut. i had vacuum lock for about 2 month now it is out again. any places that are problematic that u suggest i should look into? thxs for any advices

ned2683,

I would suspect the repair you performed. The superglue is relatively rigid and the tube in that area fails because it flexes whenever the door opens and closes. I would also be suspicious of the superglue bond to the tubing. Any separation of the bond and you would have another leak.

Try cutting the bad section out and splicing the two ends with one of the rubber connectors used in the rest of the system. Or, to test the area in question to see if it is leaking still, wrap it in electrical tape. Then go for the splice fix. The repaired area however would always be my first place to check, even after the splice, when you see evidence of a leak. Good luck, Jim
