Guess the replacement for my 190D!

Another Mercedes, very rare, inline 6.

I looked all around for replacements for my W123 when it was technically totalled a year and a half ago. Candidates included E21 BMW, Porsche 914, and VW Type I. I ended up keeping the 123. Looks like Fanman has found a better option.

Well I'll go for some limited edition W201 then instead of my first suggestion - probably a fake AMG 3.2 M104...

...now that is rare!

Bing bing bing! Correct!

My replacement is a 93 190E Sportline LE with 200K miles that had tons of recent work including timing and oil pump chains, tensioners and guides, several engine seals, front wheel bearings, rear links, E420 brake upgrade (amazing!), adjustable rear camber arms, ABS sensors and a bunch more. It has a few cosmetic issues but nothing serious. The car rides like a dream has good Nitto tires with only 8K miles but are slightly oversized causing rubbing at full lock but are the size my brother's car needs, only rust is surface rust in the trunk cause the seal is leaking.

For the obvious mechanicals, it needs a belt and maybe tensioner (I have both), strut mounts and bump stops, and the catalytic converter seems to be on the way out and may have an exhaust leak or bad resonator. Radio and speakers need to be changed and the antenna is bad but I have a good one from my parts car. The cruise control doesn't work but I have a unit I can try as well. Also needs a hood pad.

I wasn't able to completely get under the car to check the suspension but it seems to be good overall, very tight. The steering was very tight and heavy. The tighter ratio is very nice. Brakes are extremely good, I believe the claims that it stops as well as a 911.

Exterior needs some work but it's still pretty decent. Same for the interior. Nothing major on either.

So it has some issues but I have a 190E 2.6 parts car with a strong engine and transmission if I run into issues. It's also an extremely rare car, 1 of 700.

I paid all of $1700 for it. Pictures coming later.

That sounds like a good deal, Does it have that black and red leather interior?

Yes, it has the red and black leather 16 valve seats and the fake carbon fiber trim, which is cracking or in the case of the shifter surround trim, it's totally gone. I may see about having it redone or putting in legitimate carbon fiber. The seats have some of the typical split seams and a few small rips in the driver's seat but nothing that can't be dealt with. All of the vents are broken including the vent surround for the center but I have new vents and that center part is $25 at my dealer. The door cards have some issues but the black leather with piping is just an insert so I can replace or repair the door cards easily. Nice thing is that it already has the Euro cubby. Paint has some chips and scratches and damage to the pin stripe but my brother knows a lot about paint repair.

Other thing is the sunroof doesn't open but the one in my parts car does if I need any parts.

I am on a bus to Miami for the Orange Bowl with slow WiFi so I can't put any pictures up yet and unfortunately I don't have many as it was dark when I got the car.
