1986 250d -- lost left low beam and diesel shutoff

This evening I noticed my left low beam was out when I went to collect my daughter. When I got home, the diesel engine didn't shut off (I used the emergency stop on the pump).

This afternoon, I popped out the side lights to check the bulbs (I have a long standing issue with the bulb out detector) so these events could be connected.

Any thoughts ? I'm not sure I've got the correct wiring diagram for this euro.

Follow up. With a bit more study, I found that the shutoff valve is vacuum controlled as are the headlight levelers (a feature I've never used). In pulling the corner lights, I disturbed the vacuum connection at the light leading to a vacuum leak. Since this is a source of potential failure and I don't use the light levers, I think I'll look for a way to disconnect that system all together.

------------

Geoffrey

you can get little rubber vacuum caps at any auto retailer in order to excise portions of the pressure system. much neater than leaving the lines in place and stuffing golf tees into them.
