Question Shifting Issue

My car, an '87 300TD, ain't shifting right. It sat for almost a month while waiting for a new starter, which was installed a few days ago. Drove it to town about 12 miles. On the return trip I had to rev up to about 5000 rpm in order for the transmission to shift. When I got home, I checked the tranny fluid and it was full. Drove to work this morning and had the same issue

Any ideas on what is going wrong and how to fix it?

Kick-down switch issue? Did the bowden cable get disturbed during the starter replacement?

Check your bowden cable probably is to tight should have a little slack in it at the resting position. Probably did get moved when replacing starter.

Found the bowden cable and a video in a different thread. Loosened it, no change. Tightened it, no change. Where would I find and how would I check the "kick down" switch?
Car still shifts at 5000 rpm.

Most goo doesn't bother me. But this one was in the way.

Anywho, I pulled the switch from my parts car and now it shifts smoothly. It was just a stuck switch.

Crashing my 300E and buying a 300TD was one of the best automotive decisions I have made. You wouldn't believe how much $$$ I have saved.
