OM606 Glow plug harness
Feel like I should know this but I dont: Where does one test the resistance of the GP on a 606(99).
On the W124 it's on the drivers side fender. Tried what I thought would be the same plug on the W210, next to the ABS, but no diagram/picture of which plug goes to what GP(??) as on the W124. So, I'm thinking that's not it. OTOH, seems to me the harness for the GPs goes to the passenger side on my car to this circular plug. Is that where I would test? PS: Had the codes pulled and all is clear, zero codes. Does a bad gp throw a code or just a particular GP. PPS:Yes that is the newly installed ($24 at napa) block heater cord wire-tied to it.

That is the connector between the IP rack actuator and the ECU.
The GP relay on a 210 Diesel is on the inner fender, same relative place as the 123s and 124s. Glow plug detection on a 210 is by pairs. 1 or 2 is one code, 3 or 4 is another, etc. The relay works via CAN bus and per what I have read that connector is very lame. Search for posts by tjts1, he had this problem.

That's your MAP sensor.
GP relay is on the drivers fender well next to the ABS. P1367, 68 & 69 are GP's 1/2, 3/4 & 5/6 respectively. Not all scanners will report them. Some will only report P0380.

That thing you have circled in red is the connector for the injection pump. The GP relay is on the opposite side of the engine compartment, on top of the fender by the ABS modulator.

OK I think I got it now and makes sense, BUT can I get some help with the pin #s. Either I am blind, didnt see them, the GP#s have worn away or they are microscopic.
eg. what GP corresponds to the top left and right female receptacle in the photo?

The pin numbers are all marked. Just got to look closely, very closely.

The pin numbers are marked on the connector somewhere. They may be inside the connector opening or on the back where the wires enter.
Going off my memory (trust me at your own risk), if you rotate your picture 90 degrees to the right, #1 is the upper left, #2 is lower left so the top row is 1, 3, 5 and the bottom row is 2, 4, 6.

And, I just verified this is correct on my car and the connector is labeled on the wire side. 1, 3, 5 across the top and 2, 4, 6 on the bottom.

Just read this thread, too busy posting stuff about my "new" '95 W124 wagon.
Good luck with the GP issue, hope all is well and that you don't have to remove one but if you do I suggest reading whats been posted before on that matter before grabbing a wrench. Presume you know how precarious changing GPs in a OM606 can be. On that block heater, I might look into that for my '99 also. DDH

Hey Treetops,
Curious minds wondering how the resistance check went on the glowplugs?

Been busy
Ha, and here I thought we lost another fine member to a gasser.
Been busy and have not checked the GP relay yet, but plan to tomorrow or Sunday when the weather is warmer. Ive been having roughish 1ST start/warmups for about a month now hence the relay question. Could be GPs or fuel(especially since I changed 5 or the 6 lines)...bubbles. I really would rather not have to get into GP replacement on this car, especially knowing what I have by reading and following posts here. I'm a bit surprised too as I confirmed with the dealer who worked on it prior to me that the GPs were all replaced within the last 3yrs. That was one of the main reasons I bought this one. I'll see whats what shortly. In the meantime, I found that I did indeed, against my local dealers emphatic "no you dont", have a block heater. Heard the price from them and came here for options. Saved about $50 by going with the napa version of KAT 28216 thanks to EBSO. The way I have it routed in the photo is probably temporary and my rough starts are not so much now. You most likely have one, this thread helped me ID it. Quote:

Yep #4 GP probably bad
So I did the resistance test today and found a probable bad GP....arggh. Did the usual test as others described for other models. Find the GP relay plug undo it from relay and test with a multimeter on lowest Ohm setting:Infinite=NG and .7 or less OK by my understanding
Om606 is a little different as there is no battery in the engine bay to get a direct ground from so I used one of the exhaust manifold studs instead. I did find the numbers on the plug thanks to KarTek and sokoloff very small and not readily obvious. I like photos and if this helps someone else even better.
