Precombustion chamber remover.

It was 3:30 on fri when I realized I needed this tool. The machine shop is 40 min away and my only runner gets 11 mpg.

I looked everywhere for something with 22mm X 1.0 thread pitch. No bicycle shops around here. I have an extra set of injectors and remembered the top treads out of the body. Voila, the top of the injector body threads in. I cut the top off and welded on a 5/8" X 18 pitch nut for the slide hammer.

They popped right out. I was happy, to say the least.

Great solution! Did you just chisel out the prechamber collar nuts? They can be in there pretty tight.

Good Job, some times we have to get a little creative.
This is cheaper than buying the official tool.

Pelican shows two of them, the Bahm and the Sir tool, one for $40 some $ and the other in the $60 range.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/Mercedes-Benz/catalog/shopcart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_MERCED_pg38.htm

I bought the Sir tool and it works great, then later bought the bicycle tool
but never got around to using it yet.

We all have extra Injectors laying around to use, don`t always have a Welder.
Like a dumb a__ I sold mine.

Precombustion chamber remover.

See what happened was (you know how this story goes) I got the head back from the machine shop with the precombustion chambers out. He loaned me the tool for the ring to put them in, but I put the sealing ring on the wrong side (I'm young ok). So they had to come back out again.

I wouldn't mind the tool but didn't want To wait for it.

Originally I was thinking it would be easy as it hasn't fired. So I sawed an old glow plug off and put it in, and then put a boat drain plug in the precombustion chamber, and cranked it right before compression stroke.

I've never seen something fly like that lol. But the chamber stayed.

Another problem I had was I couldn't put 1350 in/lbs down for the nuts. Lol. Had to asks buddy for help.

I got a $70 harbor freight mig welder, exactly for this purpose. Works great, I can't even believe it. I had a Lincoln that was similar size, didn't work much better beyond the duty cycle.

Shortsguy1 let me know if you need one of those tools.

Yes, I hang my head in shame.

Well actually, I needed some money for something else at the time, and the
Welder was just sitting w/o being used for some time.

It was a Lincoln wire feed I bought at Costco. I want a wire feeder with Gas, and actually one with better
range settings.

Maybe my Bubble Gum welds would look better? LOL
