1985 300CD driver window dead

After trying two other switches I had on hand I'm now wondering do the windows motors fail? This window was working fine (well, maybe a little slowly) just yesterday, and this morning I tried it and it is not working at all. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

All:

If I could figure out how to delete this thread I would, because I'm embarrassed to say I didn't check the fuse before creating the thread, and it was indeed the fuse. Next time I will and thank you for your understanding.

I think your thread is there for life, but good since it helps others. I spent time on my switches too, until I found with a multimeter that the source power was dropping when I tried to actuate. The problem was simply corrosion on the tips of the fuses. The give-away is that diagonal windows both stop working - FL & RR or FR & RL, since one fuse powers 2 diagonal windows. Same deal with my sun-roof. The copper (gold-plated?) fuses are supposed to be better than tin.

If the fuse blows again you probably have a short which may be due to a exposed wire somewhere in the neighborhood of where the wires go through the body to the door.

thanks! yes, i love the 123's. not sure what's next, perhaps a 114/115 or some sort, or maybe a euro gas 123 coupe. lately i've been thinking about a regular or LWB 6-cylinder 108, like any 67-72 280 SE or SEL, but they seem to be a little hard to find. i have a very soft spot for 111 coupes also, but they have gotten so expensive i'll probably not be able to mess with another one of those. really though, i love everything from about 1959 to 1985. my daughter and wife drive the gas wagons most of the time, although i use the 98 for road trips. great cars, all of them.
