w123 front seats- can you swap from pass. to driver?

I have a great condition w123 front passenger seat which I'd like to turn into a front drivers seat. Anyone done this? I have both seats and would be willing to just move the MBTex covers to the drivers seat frame if need be. It looks like the seat bottom is not an issue- just the upper as it has the seat belt female and the seat adjusters on the wrong sides. I've got them partially apart and am looking for advice. thanks

I've been told that in fact they DO swap from side to side. Just transfer the tracks.

Given that I'm not using the M-B body I haven't done this but some of the guys who know this stuff cautioned me not to trash the passenger's seat for this reason. I took the whole deal to PnP so I didn't actually mess with it.

I've had these seats down to the frames, but have never swapped. From what I've heard, they will swap left to right if you swap the seat tracks. The only issues are that you'll lose the armrest (I THINK you can swap that over if you open the back of the seat) and that the recliner knob will now be on the opposite side. I don't know if it's possible to reverse/swap that. I don't know of anyone that has.

The seat will swap over to the drivers side.
You will need to swap the Seat Tracks, or you will have the seat Adjuster Handle in the wrong place

The seat back metal frame has the holes on each side for the Arm Rest.
MB Made it simple to make one part that will work for the right hand drive and the left hand drive roads.

Two screws at the bottom of the seat back cover, slide the cover down and out.
this will expose the big Nut for the Arm Rest.

I forgot on the seat back tilt knob though. Been a while since I did one.

I did swap in a Pass seat from a 83 240D into our 80 240 drivers side.
So I guess I got it right.

I`ll throw in here, that a w126 seat Spring Box will fit in a w123 also.

I swapped a w126 passenger seat into the driver side of my w123. They share all the same bracket holes. You will just have to punch a new hole for the arm rest and reclining adjustments.

I did have to use the old slide rails from the 300D since they were manual and the w126 were electric. All in all took about 2 hours. Well worth it in my case. The old one was just straight beat.

Well I have the passenger seat down to it's bottom frame and tracks are off, as is the seat upper cover/padding is off the frame. The seat belt female could be swapped from side to side but then it's on the same side as the adjuster- which looks like a real chore to be swapped- and so I'm not going to tackle that. It's the seat color and bottom frame which I wish to change- the current drivers seat leans to the outside (left) as most tend to do over time. So the bottom gets a track change change to the new black bottom, the upper cover and padding goes to the old frame as it holds the adjuster and SB. I have to swap the arm rest and arm rest cover- I have great condition cover in black and that's the goto color from Palamino. Not sure how to change the arm rest cover- but I'll figure it out. Pics to come.

I did not find a good place to post this thread as there is no correct forum- but by the response this forum is the right place!
