It opened OK for me. Still, that looks COLD! I don't DO cold, even though we're getting a week of it here (highs about 40 or so).

I didn't expect the city's website to have malware, I didn't get any alerts.

Our highs are in the 40's this week too. It looks like its going to be about 20 when we get up there Friday night. This will be our only "cold trip" this year.

http://malware.opendns.com/ reports it. Pretty common malware prevention method, so I would assume there is something sinister there. I wish someone would host near the GA border sometime!

Our eventful weekend
Our 80's weekend experience
This video shows the ditch I managed to find that was covered up by snow. But it doesn't show the same tow truck who showed up to our house an hour earlier to give me a jump start. I don't know why I thought she would start after sitting in -4 degree (wind chill, 50mph gust) temps overnight. |

Oh man, wish I knew about this earlier. I haven't been skiing in forever. Probably a good thing though, I would have broken something...
I could have driven the Corvette, rocking Night Ranger or Duran Duran. Maybe Flock of Seagulls?

Lessons learned
Yeah Philly, the roof rack came in handy. Four people in the coupe with a trunk full of clothes, groceries, handles of liquor and beer and puffy 80's ski jackets really left me no choice but to drive up with the rack and strap on the ski's.
We had at least 800lbs onboard and I was using 12 psi of boost for pretty much the whole trip. During the steepest cutback I hit around 1,255 F on EGT's in second gear doing about 25 mph and my (high) EGT dash light came on halfway up the pull so I engaged high boost to bring it down to 1,100. I'm sure this advice is already out there but just in case: If you plan on taking your deezl up to 6,000 ft above sea level in temps of 4 degrees with wind chills of -22, make sure your glow plugs are new. Ex. I went to start the car and the day before had no glow plug issues but saturday morning, the dash light flashed and I just found out tonight #2 was dead. So I had ONLY ONE dead plug AND I have a 2year old MTP-93 Interstate battery with 850CCA AND I adjusted the valves 3 months prior AND I added power service anti-gel. I glowed the plugs twice and tired but it wouldnt start so i tried 3 more times before the battery was too low to engage the starter. I pulled and replaced the filters and filled the spin-on with power service when the tow truck pulled up to give me a jump and snow chains. She started on the second try with jumper cables. I think the glow plugs were to blame. #1 and #2 were original Beru and #2 decided to give out when I needed it most so I just got done replacing the last two with Bosch. Its funny how the originals all failed during this past year. And yeah, Kartek, the corvette would have been right at home bumping Duran Duran up in the mountains. Oh and I need to get that road salt washed off tomorrow. Any ideas besides a regular soapy bath? Willson 85 300CD |
