What paint code is my car?

Here is the code plate under the hood; I'd like to know the code of the paint, I need to buy some touch-up. Any other note-worthy codes on here?

Thanks for that! Hmm, looks like 585, Altrot? I also wonder what the H is after the number on my plate.

Yup, it's 585 mesa red. H is the code for the paint manufacturer. I know G is for Glasurit. I don't know what H is.

Scratch that - H is for Dr. Herbert.

Mercedes-Benz Ponton Paint Codes / Color Charts © www.mbzponton.org

Quote:
Original Paint Suppliers

Glasurit and Dr. Herbert were the two companies that supplied paint to Daimler-Benz at the time the Pontons were being made. The codes for these manufacturers are the letters G and H. For example, if your car has a paint (Lackierung) code of "DB 40 G", that means the (Daimler-Benz) color is black (040), and Glasurit was the original paint supplier.

For a code list have a look at post 2

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/318879-whats-my-bumper-trim-color-code.html

From the tag in the 2nd post in this thread.

473 ( H ) is champagne (champagnermetallic)*

That is probably similar to 702 smoke silver (rauchsilber)* ( My 97 SL320 )

(* = metallic)

Nice! Thank you, sir.

From what I have read, it is common to have the wrong codes on your plate, but it is still nice to look to see.
