87 300TD junkyard parts

The local you pull it has an 87 300TD. 245K miles. 14 head. Wet inside, rusty outside.

What should I pull mechanically for spares?

Well the only things that are different between the sedan/wagon are:

Engine is the same except for the tandem power steering / SLS Pump. This also adds the hydraulic reservoir. The addition of the hydraulic reservoir pushed the windshield washer bottle to the back left corner of the engine bay.

The rear suspension has the SLS rams and accumulators and valve.

The rear door is very hard to find if it is intact.

The interior trims rearward of the B-pillars are different. Up front the switch wood is different and you gain the 2 rear wiper and washer switches and lose the headrest dump switch. That means the switch wood cover is unique to the wagon.

I would focus on the above items. Especially interior bits from the b-pillars rearward that are very rare. But be careful the plastic will be mega brittle.

I like Jay Bob's list.

Rear bumper and tail lights are also unique.

Automatic antenna.

Engine wiring harness and glow plug harness / relay are common to sedan, but if they are decent I'd grab those as well.

Might as well get the injection pump and the injectors and the hard lines, turbo-charger. Never hurts to have a spare alternator, starter, AC compressor, windshield wiper, blower motor / regulator.

Now we know why I can't get out of these places without several hundred dollars worth of stuff!

Thanks for the replies.

I should have mentioned I have an 88 300TE for parts.

I'll fill in what all I get, probably heading there Friday.
